Location: New London, CT- USCG Academy MWR AcademyDUTIES :
The purpose of this position is to provide supplemental teaching to the Academic Division at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (CGA) on a limited and/or as needed basis.
The successful candidate would be responsible for teaching one section of Calculus II. Meeting times will occur in 3-hour block Monday through Friday for 5 to 6 weeks. Federal holidays are observed.
The successful candidate will participate in planning and co-curricular aspects of the course as necessary. This may include, but is not limited to,
Drafting and /or grading assessments
Drafting lecture notes
Teaching recitation sessions
Attend regular meetings with the course coordinator to ensure course objectives are met
Occasional tutoring and coordination with tutoring staff
The expectation is for in-person teaching but the successful candidate must be able to pivot to online teaching if circumstances require.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
Minimum:
Master of Science in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
At least one year of in-person teaching experience in higher education.
Excellent interpersonal, teaching, and communication skills.
Preferred: (In addition to the minimum qualifications):
Ph.D in the disciplines listed above, or disciplines closely related to them.
Two or more years of in-person classroom experience teaching and mentoring diverse student populations and /or experience promoting diversity initiatives-including efforts at creating communities of inclusion-is desirable

Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes.
