JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State New Kensington is accepting applications for a Part Time Coordinator of Career Services!

Job Summary: The Part-Time Coordinator of Career Services is responsible for assisting students and alumni with career planning and searching for internships and job placement. This role involves providing career coaching, organizing career-related events, developing relationships with employers, and creating resources to support career development. The coordinator will work closely with other college departments to enhance student success and career readiness.

Responsibilities:

Career Coaching and Advising:

  • Provide one-on-one career counseling to students

  • Assist with resume writing, cover letter preparation, and interview techniques.

  • Offer guidance on career paths and job and internship search strategies.

Workshops and Events:

  • Plan and conduct workshops on various career-related topics such as internship/job searching, networking, and professional development.

  • Organize career fairs, employer information sessions, and networking events.

Employer Relations:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national employers to cultivate job and internship opportunities.

  • Serve as a liaison between students and employers.

Resource Development:

  • Create and update career services resources, including online materials, handouts, and guides.

Data Management:

  • Utilize career services software to manage student appointments, event attendance and employer contacts.

  • Conduct survey of new graduates each semester utilizing University-provided survey templates.

Collaboration:

  • Work with faculty and other college departments to integrate career services into the broader educational experience.

  • Participate in college committees related to student success and career readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience in career coaching and advising or a related field.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and online digital tools.

Hours:

  • Part-time position, approximately 20-25 hours per week.

  • Flexible schedule with some evening and weekend events.

Hourly Rate

  • $20 an hour
