As a Special Product Application Engineer, you will act as the primary liaison between the customer and key internal teams—including DSS, Technical Support, Customer Service, Engineering, Pricing, and Operations. You will collaborate closely with these teams to ensure the timely fulfillment of special customer orders, while also documenting processes to drive future improvements.

This role requires full-time onsite presence in our New Haven, CT office.

What you will be doing

  • Oversee the End-to-End Ownership of SPAR (Special Product Application Request): Manage all functional tasks within the defined scope.

  • Provide Regular Status Updates: Communicate the progress of special customer orders to relevant stakeholders.

  • Collaborate Across Functions: Act as a key liaison on the production floor, working closely with Order Entry, Customer Service, Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Department Team Leads, and other line personnel to achieve order fulfillment goals.

  • Participate in Production Meetings: Attend meetings to review all open special orders and address any concerns as necessary.

  • Support Profit Centers: Assist in prioritizing special customer orders and resolving scheduling conflicts.

  • Document and Track Special Orders: Record and monitor recurring special orders and work towards commercializing high-volume sequence strings.

  • Review and Monitor Expedites: Develop and analyze daily reports on approved expedites to ensure timely shipping. If delays are anticipated, collaborate with relevant teams to promptly inform and update the customer.

  • Maintain Stakeholder Communication: Keep all stakeholders informed of upcoming complex or special orders and expedite requests.

  • Proactively Identify Potential Delays: Anticipate variables that could impact on-time delivery and coordinate across multiple functions to resolve issues.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess processes and identify opportunities to enhance the customer experience.

  • Ensure Compliance with Customer Requirements: Ensure that all order changes are accurately processed on the production floor, aligning product output with customer specifications.

    What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Manufacturing Management, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities, meet deadlines, manage risk

  • Excellent problem solver, correction to Root Cause

  • Effective communicator, verbal and written skills

  • Works well in either a small or global team environment.

  • Must have “can do” attitude with ability to work in the “gray”

  • Builds effective working relationships across the organization

  • Ability to interface with persons of multiple disciplines and job functions

  • Highly motivated and self-driven

  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and conscientious.

    Preferred Skills

  • Experience with JDE ERP a plus!
