Indium Corporation Trade Compliance Specialist in New Hartford, New York

JOB SUMMARY:

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting the Global Logistics & Trade Compliance Manager with the oversight, development, and maintenance of Indium Corporation’s imports and exports of commodities, services, and technical data in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements set forth by Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Department of State (DOS) globally. This position will coordinate efforts to audit and verify that all shipment records are in compliance with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) along with U.S Customs Regulations. The Trade Compliance Specialist will collaborate with Indium Corporation’s third-party transportation management partner, customs brokers, international freight forwarders, and legal counsel on all matters related to logistics & trade compliance. This role will require a strong working knowledge of import and export regulations, commodity classification skills using the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and Free-Trade Agreements along with excellent verbal and written communication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):

• Ensure effective trade compliance practices are maintained globally in accordance with U.S. and international import/export laws and regulations

• Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of Indium Corporation’s corporate trade compliance policies and procedures to keep Indium Corporation’s Trade Compliance Manual up-to-date • Support the preparation and submission of license applications/requests for license approvals to government agencies

• Provide regular guidance on U.S. HTS classification and Schedule B codes and maintain internal Commodity Code database with current classification revisions

• Assist with requests for binding classification rulings, ECCN commodity classifications, and commodity jurisdictions

• Assist with the development and training of executive management, engineers, inside sales, shipping, and other functions directly or indirectly involved in importing and exporting goods and/or technical data

• Assist with regular trade compliance audits to document and identify necessary post-summary corrections, process gaps, or training opportunities

• Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with all Indium Corporation international manufacturing and business locations to streamline import and export processes

• Coordinate efforts to implement effective change management when internal policies and procedures are updated across the impacted business units

• Assist with the completion of customer requested C-TPAT and Export Compliance Questionnaires

• Perform review and escalate the results of the daily Denied Party Screening

• Assist with the data compilation for Indium Corporation’s Duty Drawback Program and Miscellaneous Tariff Bill Incentive

• Collaborate with Indium Corporation’s Corporate Trade Counsel on special projects on an as needed basis

• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration/supply chain management or equivalent

• 1year of trade compliance or relevant experience required , or 3 years preferred

• NCBFAA Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and/or Certified Export Specialist (CES) preferred

• Excellent working knowledge of EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and U.S. Customs Regulations

• USHTS classification knowledge

• Strong attention to detail to read, interpret, and apply government regulations with company policies

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Competency in Microsoft Office applications with strength in Excel

• Experience working in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and/or other automated compliance solutions

• Ability to work independently with verbal or written instructions

• Experience in training and technical procedure writing/development

• Able to work well in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to develop an understanding of Indium Corporation’s products and services

• Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

WAGE DISCLOSURE:

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components include health, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, retirement plan, volunteer opportunities, paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and many more.

$58,500 - $75,000 annually
