PAY RATE STARTS AT $38 per hour, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

  • The schedule will be 9am - 5pm with additional hours worked as required. Willing to entertain a schedule with later in/out times if preferred i.e. (10am-6pm, 11am-7pm, etc.) FULL TIME OR PART TIME

JOB TITLE: FLOAT RN

MAIN FUNCTION: Directs nursing service activities including the preparation of nursing care plans in an organized patient care unit and is responsible for her unit for each 24-hour period.

REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing Services or Assistant Director of Nursing

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directed by coordination of the nursing staff, the implementation and evaluation of the delivery of nursing regimen.

  • Assigns duties to professional and ancillary nursing personnel based on patient needs, available staff, and unit needs.

  • Supervises and evaluates work performance in terms of patient care, staff relations and efficiency of service.

  • Observes nursing care and visits patients to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed, and treatment is administered in accordance with physician’s instructions, and to ascertain needs for additional or modified services.

  • Maintains a safe environment for patients.

  • Accompanies physicians on rounds to answer questions, receive instruction and note patient care requirements.

  • Assists in interpreting policies and procedures for high quality care.

  • Promotes individual staff development.

  • Communicates reportable conditions and units needs to nursing service office.

  • Develops and updates nursing care plan (kardex) for each patient.

  • Coordinates with all shifts the completion of admission observations for residents

  • Completes Daily Report Sheet for supervisory report and submits to the Nursing Office prior to end of shift. Ensures shift charge nurses complete daily report accurately.

  • Completes MDS’s following guidelines.

  • Participates in Interdisciplinary Team Conference.

  • Review and analyze trends pertinent to delivery of nursing care service within the nursing unit and propose appropriate innovations.

  • Evaluating individual work performance through observation, spot check work completed and conferences.

  • Responsible for reviewing medication orders and supervising continuous supplying of medications.

  • Assist in the development of comprehensive care plan.

  • Continues orientation of new personnel in cooperation with inservice programs.

  • Works as scheduled for weekend and holiday house coverage.

  • Demonstrates proficiency with electronic charting system.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • Currently licensed and registered professional nurse in New York State.

  • Experience in management position.

  • Geriatric experience desirable.

  • Demonstrates competence as a nursing practitioner.

CONTACTS: Daily contacts with professionals, non-professionals, residents/patients, interdepartmental personnel and visitors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Considerable daily walking, sitting and standing, assisting with patients in lifting and moving, writing and finger dexterity.

MENTAL DEMANDS: Mental acuity for multiple decisions. An ability and skill to interpret nursing policies and procedures. Capable of skillfully handling interpersonal relationships.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Constant contact in well lighted and ventilated nursing care unit with usual sights, sounds and odors.

HAZARDS: Usual nursing unit hazards to infection.

POSSIBLE ADVANCEMENT: With appropriate additional formal education to promotion.

SAFETY: Accountable for implementing assigned responsibilities and activities to attain safety goals and objectives by complying with applicable rules and regulations and performing tasks and supervision others in performing tasks in a safe manner.
