Victory Lane Childrens Rehab Speech Language Pathologist Assistant in New Castle, Indiana

Position Summary: This position supports speech and language therapy for pediatric patients, under the direction and supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). The Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) assists in the work with children and their families to deliver care in a safe, friendly encouraging culture according to 321Go Kids Mission and Core Values. 321Go Kids guides parents to discover hope and unleash the potential in their children by providing creative family focused therapeutic solutions.

Essential Functions and Duties: The following duties are not a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this role. Employees may be required to perform some, or all the duties listed, and may be required to perform additional duties as assigned:

  • Work with children (birth through 18 years of age) with various diagnoses, including but not limited to apraxia, expressive language disorder, articulation, receptive expressive language disorder, phonological disorder, slurred speech, and stuttering.
  • Follow the plan of care established by Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Assist with assessments and evaluations to determine effective Speech Language Pathology therapy needs; assist Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) with documentation of treatment plans in consultation with physicians and other health care providers in accordance with federal, state, and professional standards.
  • Assist with documentation of patient therapy services as directed by supervising SLP.
  • Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Document patient performance and report the findings/information to the supervising SLP.
  • Assist with providing education to families regarding in-home exercise and activity programs and the use of assistive devices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following all rules and protocols.
  • Read assigned materials and maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications and attending workshops.

  • Ability to demonstrate proper transfer techniques for children of all sizes, ages, weights, and levels of development.
  • Possess creativity, patience, and skills to work with all children and their families.
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate thoughts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with children of all ages, co-workers, families, and healthcare professionals.

Minimum Qualifications (Education / Experience / Licensure):

  • Bachelors degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant from an accredited program
  • Must work under a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with an active Speech Language Pathology license in the state of Indiana
  • Pediatrics experience preferred
  • Continued participation in continuing education as required by the state of Indiana

Minimum Physical Requirements/Environment:

  • The job involves physical movement, including standing, sitting, sitting on the floor, bending, squatting, walking, kneeling, etc.
  • Requires normal, correctable vision and hearing.
  • Lifting weights of various amounts, depending upon the hilds weight.
  • The environment is constantly changing, often stressful or noisy, primarily indoors. Some exposure to bodily fluids can be expected.
