Overview:Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, Continuous Improvement, the Reliability Engineer’s responsibility is to originate and develop analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and processes.
Job Description:Essential Functions
Acquire and analyze data; prepare diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements.
Lead regular plant meetings to inform and lead RACI activity to drive plant results.
Conduct analysis of reliability problems and investigate to determine the required reliability approach for a particular situation, with consideration given to cost limitations for equipment uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs and weight, size and availability of materials/equipment.
Determine cost advantages of alternatives and develop action plans that comply with internal/external customer demands for reliable processes/equipment to avoid failures.
Gathers and examines basic reliability data from field studies or database and correlates the data for analysis using well-defined techniques, principles and procedures.
Assist others in root cause failure analysis, Kaizen, PSDM, PDCA, and other problem solving methods in order determine corrective actions and avoid future failures.
Utilize SPC methods to validate CP / CPK of a process and evaluate with Engineering.
Works under supervision of other engineers and receives guidance in the use of standard company procedures for use in reliability analysis specific to the product/process.
Follows company safety and health guidelines and other company policies
Supports the ongoing development of the Boar’s Head Reliability Process (BHRP), as well as serving as a subject matter expert and trainer
Performs other work as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience specifically in reliability process development and implementation.
Minimum of five years industrial plant experience with the ability to diagnose mechanical, equipment, electrical, and utilities systems problems.
Must be capable of reading schematics, prints, and drawings.
Computer proficiency (Intermediate Level in MS Word, MS Excel, and other appropriate MS Office Suite applications) is necessary.
Experience with Oracle eAM - desired
Certified Reliability Leader (AMP) or equivalent is a benefit.
Certified LSS Yellow Belt or above or equivalent knowledge and experience, is a benefit.
Experience with major control system such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, etc. is a benefit.
Experience with plant SCADA, monitoring, reporting systems such as Ignition, Factory Talk, etc. is a benefit.
Experience with Predictive Maintenance Methods – Oil analysis, Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Ultrasonic Detection
AutoCAD capability a significant benefit.
Strong project management, organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Language Skills
- Able to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats, to wide range of audiences.
Mathematical Skills
Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude is required.
Must be able to read and analyze process data, charts, graphs, and logs.
Work Environment
- Standard office conditions as well as manufacturing plan environmental conditions (refrigerated temperatures - under 40 degrees, cooking environment, and some damp conditions).
