Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator the Pre-College Outreach. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of Mentoring, Workshops, host college bound days and other programs and events.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Oversees and coordinates mentoring programs and family workshop series for local, academically at-risk youth and families in community settings.
  • Serves as the volunteer placement liaison between Rutgers University and surrounding school districts.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a psychology, education, social work or related social sciences.
  • Two years of relevant experience working in a program management function in higher education or youth-serving setting.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current practices in mentoring programs, experience in service learning, community-based research and student internships in higher education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse populations, including work with a variety of units and departments to meet area mission.
  • Ability to multi-task, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Position must be able to maintain confidentiality and work cooperatively with others.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Must have access to vehicle transportation.
  • The position requires a high-level of accountability with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any given time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of current practices in mentoring programs, experience in service learning, community-based research and student internships in higher education.
  • This knowledge is fundamental to successfully fulfill the requirements of mentoring program and school placement planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish.
Equipment Utilized
  • Must have strong familiarity with equipment and software needed for mentoring and program management, including but not limited to Qualtrics, CANVAS, Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Position may be asked to lift boxes and materials up to 25lbs.
  • Position may be asked to travel from time to time, must have access to transportation and be available to work some nights and weekends.
