Johnson & Johnson Innovation LLC is recruiting for a Senior Principal Scientist, Imaging Analytics to join our Interventional Oncology team. The primary and preferred location for this position is Titusville/Raritan/New Brunswick, NJ. Consideration may be given for candidates who can be based in Spring House/Horsham, PA, or Boston, MA.(Remote work options within the US may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the company.)

Interventional Oncology (INTO) is a cross-sector R&D organization working within J&J, charged by the Executive Committee with meaningfully altering the course of lung and adjacent cancers and improving survival by preventing, intercepting, and treating lung cancer and other solid tumor types.
This Senior Principal Scientist, Imaging Analytics role offers a unique opportunity to lead the development and application of transformative imaging analytics that directly impact the clinical advancement of innovative intratumoral oncology therapies. The successful candidate will spearhead projects that support key clinical programs, cultivate strong partnerships, establish foundational capabilities, and oversee the curation of annotated data assets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the imaging analytics strategy that effectively utilizes preclinical and clinical imaging data to deliver actionable insights.
Advanced Analytics Development: Design and develop imaging analytics pipelines to extract quantitative metrics and clinically meaningful insights to evaluate hypotheses, address key clinical questions, and inform decision-making.
Conducting Imaging Analysis on Trial Data: Apply robust imaging analytics pipeline to analyze data from completed/ongoing trials, ensuring alignment with study protocols and objectives; Collaborate with clinical teams to establish relevant metrics and validate findings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and collaborators, including clinical, engineering sciences and biomarker teams to ensure seamless alignment and effective collaboration across all functions.
Clear Communication and Results Dissemination: Effectively translate complex imaging analytics concepts and findings into clear, concise reports and presentations for non-technical audience, facilitating alignment and informed decision-making.
Data Pipeline and Governance: Oversee imaging data pipelines, ensuring high standards of data ingestion, processing, annotation, curation and sharing.
Mentorship: Mentor and support junior scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and scientific rigor.
Qualifications
PhD in medical imaging analysis, computer science, data science, biomedical engineering, or a related quantitative field, with at least 5 years of experience in imaging analytics within a clinical setting is required. (Consideration may be given for candidates with a Master’s degree and at least 8 years experience in imaging analytics within a clinical setting.)
Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cancer research institutions, healthcare or contract research organization (CRO) environment is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in CT imaging modality is required.
Experience with MRI or PET imaging is a plus.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing advanced analytics, including AI/ML models, for medical imaging analysis in clinical development is required.
Proficiency in Python is required.
Hands-on experience in medical imaging analysis libraries (e.g., SimpleITK, PyRadiomics, OpenCV, etc.) is preferred.
Extensive experience with tools and processes related to visualization, registration, and segmentation of medical imaging data is required.
Experience in developing imaging analytics to support oncology trials is preferred.
Experience in supporting clinical development is preferred.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and manage key stakeholders is required.
10% of domestic/international travel might be required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 to $235,750. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
