Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Plumber Steamfitter I for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance and Construction, performs a variety of maintenance repairs and installation/replacement of plumbing systems and fixtures including: supply systems, DWV system, plumbing, heating and seam fixtures/equipment. Assists in the work direction of other mechanics, trades helpers and mechanics of other skilled trades. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Physical Demands and Work Environment | Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical labor without restrictions, including lifting equipment in excess of fifty (50) pounds, performing work on roofs, scaffolds and ladders.Work Environment: The position may require work in the following environmental condition; wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near mechanical moving parts, in high, precarious places, among fumes and airborne particles, in outdoor weather conditions and near vibrations up to 2/3 of the time; with toxic or caustic chemicals, in extreme hot or cold conditions, at risk of electrical shock and of radiation less then 1/3 of the time. Moderate noise conditions are typical for the work environment for this job. The position requires close, distance and color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus. |
