Aerotek Manufacturing Mechanic in New Brunswick, New Jersey

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic - Plastics Manufacturing

Location: New Brunswick, NJ

Pay: $28-$35/hr.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various types of machinery used in the production of plastic products. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and scheduled maintenance of machinery and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.

  • Identify mechanical problems through observation and testing metrics to determine the type of repair needed.

  • Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.

  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

  • Assist in the installation of new production equipment and systems, and work to enhance and upgrade existing systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle physical workload, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
