Actalent Laboratory Technician in New Brunswick, New Jersey

Job Title: Laboratory TechnicianJob Description

Utilize your knowledge of different sample/specimen tube types to process and ship specimens while supporting inventory management. You will create, package, and QA prep kits before sending them to patients, and input patient data accurately into electronic medical records and research databases. Use centrifuge, aliquot, and pipetting techniques for sample preparation and perform repetitive laboratory tasks. Collect tissues/body fluids and other biological specimens from area hospital operating rooms, pathology laboratories, CINJ outpatient clinic, and other patient encounter areas to transport them to the CINJ OHRS labs or other CINJ research laboratories. Accurately document biological specimen collection information onto specimen collection forms and maintain organized storage of specimens and specimen records in the lab. Ensure de-identification of patient files and surgical reports compliant with HIPAA regulations. Provide routine maintenance to lab equipment, file paperwork for all samples, and work with human samples such as urine, blood, fecal matter, and saliva. Conduct complex testing for blood (separate serum and plasma, isolate blood cells, use centrifuges, etc.), and follow regulatory processes for specimen collection.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Work Environment

Lab environment with moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs, and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Work schedule is 4 days/10 hour shifts - Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri, 10AM-8:30PM. Some flexibility required as final sample collection could extend work hours until 9PM or 10PM on some days. Potential to cover Saturday hours, planned a year in advance. Exposure to hazardous materials.
