Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Manager I (Business Title: Director of Business Services) for the Mason Gross School of the Arts (MGSA). This position will report to the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • As part of leadership team, directs the financial planning for the school unit, managing $59M budget portfolio.
  • Analyzes revenues and expenditures, develops budget proposals and projections, and executes monthly closing process, quarterly projections, working budget and year end closing.
  • Prepares and presents financial statements and reports for both internal and external purposes.
  • Provides oversight, direction, development, and feedback to the team of business and department administrators.
  • Works independently, with broadly defined work objectives to align budget and finance to MGSA mission and strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
  • Five (5) years of relevant professional experience in a financial/accounting function.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain continually evolving working relationships with a variety of individuals, coordinating multiple activities.
  • Demonstrates competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently, plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Proficiency to analyze data, information, and objectives; identify patterns, concerns, issues, problems, needs, tendencies and relationships; formulate logical and objective conclusions; recognize alternatives and their implications; and make sound decisions or recommendations.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and to address them proactively.
  • Ability to multitask and manage several complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, stakeholder-focused, team environment.
  • Requires strong project planning, organizational, financial planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to integrate multiple sources of information and to coordinate and communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline driven, stakeholder focused, team environment.

  • Master's degree in accounting or finance.
