Connecticut State Job Bank Fleet Operations Manager in NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut

Primary Responsibilities:

This individual will be responsible for using their industry experience, independent judgement and discretion to affect positive results in the following areas:

VEHICLE BASE ASSIGNMENTS

  • Work with the Vice President to coordinate the assignment and movement of revenue and non-revenue vehicles between locations.

LONG-TERM VEHICLE ALLOCATION

  • Review operations plan and assign vehicles to multi-day trips 7+ days out.
  • Coordinate movement of trips between yards to maximize efficiency, including cost control and profitability.
  • Determine rental needs ahead of driver bids closing and work with outside carriers to contract.
  • Ensure availability of specialty vehicles at required locations.

MAINTENANCE MOVES

  • Coordinate movement of vehicles between terminals and between terminals and body shops or outside vendors to minimize cost.
  • Coordinate scheduling and movement of vehicles for required state inspections.
  • Coordinate scheduling of vehicles for special projects, graphics installation, etc.

VEHICLE PERMITTING AND CREDENTIALS - LEGAL COMPLIANCE

  • Work with the Vice President and Director of Operations to determine vehicle permitting and credential needs.
  • Maintain vehicle credentials based on needs in multiple jurisdictions - IRP, Ontario, Quebec, etc.
  • Coordinate BestPass program and review and approve invoice for Coach and Tour Group.
  • Determine needs and coordinate permitting for airports and other special access requirements.
  • IFTA credentialing and reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain necessary documentation for state operating authorities.

EXECUTIVE COACH OPERATIONS

  • Coordinate scheduling of executive coach crew to include operator and attendant.
  • Coordinate inventory required for executive coach operation.

OTHER TASKS AND PROJECTS

  • Complete other task and projects as may be assigned by the Director of Operations or Vice President from time to time.
  • Communicating instances where instructions or plans were not followed and resulted in a service failure or unnecessary hardship or expense to the Company. In such cases, this individual recommends disciplinary and/or other corrective action to the Director of Operations.

Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in operations, logistics or transportations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Computer savvy
  • Ability to work as an individual and as a team member
