Cedar Fair Night Maintenance in NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas

Overview:

Night maintenance ensures the ride attractions surfaces are sufficient for rider occupancy, while using various components or materials to repair surfaces such as fiberglass, foam, and concrete. Responsible for preventative maintenance and yearly repairs for all slide surfaces in the park. Provides support during non-operating hours during the season to minimize impact to daily operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Directed by Rides supervisor, work associated with work orders and priority discussions will be conducted to all ride surfaces or elements. Making small impact adjustments or repairs to surfaces to limit down-time but still uphold safety priorities. Often cosmetic or surface painting of slides and elements to maintain premature wear / failure on foam and fiberglass.

  • Complete work orders where fiberglass or foam failures have occurred. Using technical skills associated with the position, providing a balance between all stages of the repair. Whether foam or fiberglass there are 3-4 steps to be followed for proper repairs and time management is essential to the success of the repair. Most work is completed overnight which allows for operation the next day. Supports minor repairs for other maintenance teams when appropriate.

  • Directed to clean all rides and attractions utilizing a routine schedule to ensure a positive image. Various methods for cleaning like; power washing, chlorine washing, acid washing, and degreasing will occur on a weekly basis or as time permits. This will occur during non-operating hours and when minimal staff are impacted.

  • Directed to set up and take down the awnings, shade covers, or funbella tops all over the facility based on necessity. Will take care of minor repairs but will prepare for shipping if directed by Rides supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to follow instructions per manufactures guidelines to include part A & B mixing or dilution ratios; hand and power tools; heat gun or other heat bending devices for foam manipulation; ability to work nights during summer

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must have a valid State Driver’s License and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance

Physical Requirements

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, picking, pinching, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of the hands, wrists and/or fingers.

  • Very heavy work. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades, tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.

  • Exposure to environmental conditions such as rain, direct/indirect sun and heat for extended periods of time.

  • Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • Subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

  • Subject to sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

  • Subject to atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin, such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.

  • Frequently in close quarters, costumes, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, small sewage and line pipes, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.

  • Functioning in narrow aisles or passageways.

  • Exposure to multiple, high-stress situation at any given time and must maintain a high level of alertness.
