Status:Full Time - In Person, M-F Department:Family and Youth Services Wages:$12.50 - $14.50 per hour (starting)

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A Lead Pre-K Teacher at the YMCA Early Learning Center provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The essential functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals and Mission of the YMCA, intentionally fostering a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
2. Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
4. Make ongoing, systemic observations and evaluations of each child.
5. Conduct parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
6. Engage parents as volunteers.
7. Maintain program site and equipment.
8. Maintain required program records.
9. Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
10. Maintain classrooms by cleaning and organizing daily, removing trash, keeping bathrooms clean throughout the day, keeping sanitizing solutions full at all times.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Lead Pre-K Teacher Level 1 must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and must have completed the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential or its equivalent as determined by the Division of Child Development.
2. A Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher also must possess: SIDS certification, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date
3. Pass a DMV background check
4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting
5. Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
6. Previous experience with diverse populations.
7. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
