Job Description: Lead R&D Engineer
This individual will have a hybrid role of individual contribution as well as leading a team of engineers, designers, and/or technicians in the development of Seating and Positioning products. This role includes both individual contributions to and management of design, evaluation, and testing activities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Quality, Operations, and Sourcing to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in medical device development, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and testing of new Seating and Positioning medical device products from concept to production.
Conduct research to identify technological advancements that address new and unmet user needs.
Manage project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful project completion.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including regulatory, quality, and manufacturing to ensure compliance and successful product launch.
Mentor and guide a team of engineers, providing technical expertise and fostering a collaborative environment.
Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and presentations to stakeholders.
Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulations to ensure the company's products remain competitive and compliant.
Develop and validate prototypes through testing and analysis using standard engineering tools.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the development process.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks Enterprise PDM.
Expertise in new product development and R&D.
Knowledge of ISO standards.
Experience with DFSS and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical medical device development.
Proven track record of leading projects, teams, and external resources or partners in a research and development setting.
Strong knowledge of medical device regulations, standards, and quality systems (e.g., FDA, ISO).
Strong understanding of electro-mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in engineering software and other relevant engineering tools (i.e. CAD, FMEA, Six Sigma, etc.).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with project management, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Ability to mentor and guide a team of engineers.
Strong presentation and documentation skills.
Ability to stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $135000.00/hr.
