APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY - $52,200.00 to $76,608.72 PAY GRADE: 30

The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position

Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Maintenance Repair Specialist 2 performs a variety of general maintenance building repairs and projects. This will include dry wall repairs, ceiling and floor repairs and replacement, interior and exterior painting to include street signage and striping, concrete form layout and pouring, lockset install and repair, locksmithing, rough and finish carpentry, working at elevated heights on roofs, ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment. Duties also include, door repairs and installation, window and glass replacement, small tenant improvement projects, and all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. This position oversees the welding shop, and has responsibility to escort inmate crews and various contractors in several maintenance shops. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Notes

This position is subject to standby and call back status. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.

Special Requirements

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A valid Class A or B commercial driver's license is required within six months of employment. This position may require flexible/rotating shifts. This position may require work on nights/weekends/holidays.
