Analyst II

Summary:

  • Results orientated to produce high quality defensible analytical data, safely and on time by following applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Performs sample preparation and provides general support in the analysis ofsamples.

  • Performs advanced sample preparation and sampleanalyses.

  • Coordinates the priority organization and flow of samples and/ormaterials.

  • Gains full knowledge with respect to performing analytical procedures and related quality control techniques.

  • Proactive in resolving analytical and processproblems.

  • Willing to learn and continuously update skills and expertise throughtraining.

  • Inspires, motivates and participates in building a strong teamenvironment.

  • Takes initiative and is proactive in mentoring junior staff to effect processchanges.

Duties:

  • Adheres to Bureau Veritas Code of EthicsPolicy.

  • Supports and complies with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.

  • Performs both basic and complex sample preparation andanalyses.

  • Performs sample preparation and procedures prior toanalyses.

  • Provides general and advanced labsupport.

  • Recording of results in logbooks and on FCDs. Data entry into LIMS may also berequired.

  • Assists with method and/or data validation. Data validation in LIMS may also berequired.

  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI's) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure.

  • Ensures a high level of accuracy in sample prep andanalysis.

  • Employs proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabelling, sample mix- up and cross contamination between samples and other materials.

  • Prioritizes daily workload based on sample and client requirement for self and juniorstaff.

  • Provides Supervisor/Manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays.

  • Understands analysis procedures and problem solvesissues.

  • Identifies any non-routine samples and seeks guidance on procedures forhandling.

  • Identifies and communicates non-conformances to Team Lead/Supervisor/Manager.

  • Maintains training records and relevantqualifications.

  • Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.

  • Participates in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work instructions (WIs).

  • Provides input to corrective action procedures or may be assigned to perform the corrective action.

  • Keeps work area clean, neat andorganized.

  • Participates in Department and Health & Safetymeetings.

  • Participates, when requested in internal and externalaudits.

  • Provides training, technical expertise and mentoring to juniorstaff.

  • Proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies are available in thelab.

  • Ensures that instruments and equipment are appropriatelymaintained.

  • Acts as a positive change agent in supporting Bureau Veritas’ new initiatives (operational and cultural).

  • Suggests and helps to implement productionefficiencies.

  • All other responsibilities asassigned.

MinimumQualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in the role of AnalystI.

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in related area oftesting.

Education:

  • Post secondary school education and equivalentexperience.

WorkingConditions:

  • May involve long periods ofstanding.

  • Some lifting and carrying (up to 10kgs).

  • Requires flexible working hours, overtime and shiftwork.

  • Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
