Position Summary/Description:

The Adolescent Behavioral Health (BH) Social Work Supervisor is integrated within the Adolescent Medicine outpatient clinic to function as a member of a trauma-informed, culturally competent, interdisciplinary team to provide screening, evidence-based treatments, and care coordination for adolescents and their families. This position works with a variety of professionals representing various disciplines related to patients’ specific needs, including pediatric and adolescent medicine providers, psychiatrists, and dietitians. Care coordination is administered across multiple clinical locations where Adolescent Medicine provides care, including outpatient offices in Raleigh and Chapel Hill.

This position relies upon sound knowledge of social work principles, needs, and practices, and provides patient care, program leadership, and supervision of other social work practitioners working within the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. The individual in this role will have expertise in the health needs of adolescents and demonstrate the following competencies:

Patient Care:

The majority of the Adolescent Behavioral Health Social Work Supervisor’s time is spent in direct patient care providing mental health evaluation and treatment. Additionally, this individual leads in implementing the integrated behavioral health model within the UNC Children’s Adolescent Medicine Clinic.

Leadership:

The supervisor will also demonstrate leadership through personnel management, providing clinical supervision for LCSWAs in accordance with the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board ( NCSWCLB ) regulations. Typically, this includes providing supervision to 1-2 LCSWAs.

The individual will serve as a coach and assist with care debriefing, as well as training and sharing resources with the team.

Education and Experience:

Experience with mental health evaluation and treatment for adolescents. Demonstrated experience with effective verbal and written communication skills related to treatment planning. Prefer experience with Epic Electronic Health Record. Prefer experience working with diverse and underprivileged populations.

Essential Skills:

Licensed in one of the following areas:

  • LCSW -Licensed Clinical Social Worker

  • Or other equivalent licensure
