Position Summary/Description:

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The primary purpose of the Senior Admissions/Enrolled Students Specialist is to support the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Enrolled Students, as well as applicants, students, and graduate programs across campus.This position performs a wide range of leadership functions for The Graduate School Admissions and Enrolled Students team, including managing admissions launches for new programs, acting as the team s liaison with central campus offices, providing training and creating training resources for Graduate School staff and academic programs, reviewing student extension requests and off-campus rate petitions, and assisting and collaborating across campus on graduation clearance for the over 8,000 graduate students in academic programs supported by The Graduate School.Due to growth in admissions and graduate education, as well as a restructuring and expansion of the Admissions and Enrolled Students team, the Senior Admissions/Enrolled Students Specialist will manage admissions and enrolled students functions and provide leadership and guidance to Graduate School staff, prospective and enrolled students, and academic programs. The Senior Admissions and Enrolled Students Specialist is the external-facing contact for admissions and enrolled students processes and policies, as well as providing direct student support to graduate students across all over 160 graduate degrees supported by The Graduate School. This individual collaborates with central offices like the Registrar s Office and ITS to streamline existing processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy. The individual in this position deals with a variety of topics and issues that affect students, staff, and faculty, and must have a thorough understanding of Graduate School and university policies, as well as the ability to independently apply these policies to different situations in different contexts, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to analyze and problem solve many different types of situations.This position frequently provides feedback and oversight for internal and campus policies and processes, and assists in establishing Graduate School procedures, as well as developing strategy for best practice for campus partners, including academic programs, departments and campus partners.

Education and Experience:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills:

Experience working in higher education in an academic environment (working with faculty, staff, and students). Working knowledge of ConnectCarolina, ImageNow, and Admissions systems required. Ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines and resolve problems and questions independently. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and changing priorities to meet deadlines. Demonstrated understanding of UNC’s student policies and procedures.
