Position Summary/Description:
Dr. Daniel Dominquez, Assistant Professor, Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) School of Medicine is looking for a Postdoctoral fellow to join his group.
The Dominguez lab studies how gene expression is controlled by nucleic acid binding proteins. Areas of research include altered RNA regulation in cancer, evolution of RNA -regulation, and the development of approaches to measure expressed genes, isoforms, and protein products. This position will involve collaborative work with the Coleman, Kuhlman, Vincent, and Bowers Labs at UNC .
Successful candidates in this position will employ biochemical and molecular biology approaches to develop methodologies to measure gene expression. A critical component of this position is to work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary group applying molecular biology, high-throughput sequencing, protein evolution, and peptide chemistry. The candidate should also have a strong background in RNA biology and gene expression control. Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry are preferred. Candidates will also be expected to mentor and train undergraduate and junior graduate students, pursue funding opportunities, publish their research, and progress towards an independent research career.
Education and Experience:
Experience with protein purification, molecular biology, and high-throughput techniques (e.g. proteomics and/or RNAseq) are preferred.
