QEHS Coordinator

The Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing the safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. They monitor compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and enforce preventative measures.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Create and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with relevant legislation and company standards.
Conduct Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect premises, equipment, and processes to identify hazards or non-compliance issues. Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure implementation.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and collaborate with department heads to develop risk mitigation strategies.
Safety Training: Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees, covering topics such as emergency procedures, workplace ergonomics, and safe work practices.
Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain records of incidents and produce statistical reports for management.
Safety Compliance: Monitor adherence to safety guidelines and company policies by employees and contractors. Enforce safety regulations and take disciplinary action where necessary.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures. Conduct drills to ensure readiness and evaluate effectiveness.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of all safety inspections, audits, incidents, and training sessions. Prepare regular reports for management on safety performance and compliance.
Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a culture of safety awareness and responsibility throughout the organization. Encourage employees to take an active role in maintaining safety standard
What you’ll need to succeed
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Technician) may be required.
Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role in a related industry.
In-depth knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
Safety Officers typically work full-time hours in an office environment, but they may also spend time on the floor of a production facility or construction site.
Travel may be required to different company locations or project sites.
