United States Fleet Forces Command ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) in Naval Shipyard, Virginia

Summary You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Electrical) in the Lifting & Handling Technical Division, Deputy Lifting & Handling Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will provide technical coordination and direction to crane division personnel in matters pertaining to all operations of the Lifting and Handling Technical Division. You will conduct studies and prepare recommendations for changes and methods, techniques and facilities to improve effectiveness. You will review technical procedures and instructions to ensure that requirements are compatible with Lifting and Handling Technical Division capabilities. You will review Quality Assurance data and problems related to the Lifting and Handling Technical Division. You will perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience testing and developing new or modified engineering systems. Experience evaluating data and determining acceptability of equipment modifications, validity, test procedures and data, to improve effectiveness. Experience applying in-depth knowledge of technical engineering methods, applications, practices, and principles to work on concepts, and experimental projects pertaining to crane maintenance, crane engineering, crane quality assurance, and crane operations. Experience using job-relevant information systems and software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, database applications, and the Internet. Experience communicating orally and in writing, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling, to make presentations and prepare reports. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
