United States Fleet Forces Command EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (AIRCRAFT/ PROPULSION) in Naval Base, Virginia

Summary You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (AIRCRAFT/PROPULSION) in the TECHNICAL RESEARCH UNIT (TRU), SUPPLY RESPONSE SECTION (SRS) of AVIATION SUPPORT DETACHMENT NORFOLK. Responsibilities You will provide expert technical assistance to supply and maintenance personnel in obtaining repair parts for the equipment. You will coordinate with the work center personnel and Awaiting Part (AWP) section to ensure proper parts are on order and the correct parts are on order to complete the repair action. You will be assigned expediting and liaison duties to resolve the more difficult problems encountered in satisfying requirements. You will make sure descriptions are complete that sources of supply can offer substitute items and alternate materials in place of the items normally ordered. You will suggest specific sources of supply or repairs for all types and categories of material and make decisions on whether material offered by these sources are acceptable. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working and familiar with the operation of all aircraft engines and airframes. Experience using and familiar with various supply and maintenance technical cross reference publications used in the Aviation Support Detachment. Experience in determining stock availability by utilizing micro-fiche and various computers. Education GS-07: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education. OR Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement. OR A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
