This position will support Divisions We Do Life Together and our separate LLC, Connecticut Transportation Solutions.
High Level Job Description:
The Trainer will teach students our defined curriculum which has been designed to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills to be hired as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). The Trainer must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The successful candidate must have a minimum of five years’ DSP instructing experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Student Training:
Train students in a classroom setting in accordance with the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and Agency standards, guidelines and regulations for DSP training programs including CPR and PMT.
Teach program curriculum based on the skill sets required for students to successfully pass all course requirements.
Support students through computer-based models by providing technical assistance if needed, providing additional exercises to assist with the comprehension of the materials, provide recap discussion sessions, etc.
Evaluate and propose updated curriculum as needed.
Evaluate and document student’s progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
Communicate effectively with students, fellow team members, and staff from all Agency departments.
Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of a good DSP.
Coordinate and oversee the Med-Certification and Re-Certification process for all DDS licensed programs.
Student Records:
Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to, attendance records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
Complete other student record responsibilities as needed.
Other:
Promote the mission of the DSP Program in a positive manner with all staff, participants, and a consistent exchange of information in a transparent and collaborative environment.
Participate in regular meetings and communications with program partners in order to collaborate, align instruction, monitor student progress and identify issues they may have while attending classes.
Assist the Sales and Marketing team with recruiting students and by providing marketing content and ideas.
Perform other special projects / assignments as needed.

Qualifications
Must be at least 18-years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have five years’ experience in DSP instruction within the last 10 years
Prior DDS experience a plus
Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
Must have a solid command of Relias training software and HRIS systems (i.e. Paycom)
Must have a solid command of Microsoft 365 not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, and Outlook
Must have competence with workflow systems
