How you make a difference
This role represents Recovery Solutions (RS) Corporate Pharmacy Services for all matters pertaining to pharmacy operations. Monitors and reports on all Pharmacy operations. Evaluates, reviews, develops, monitors, and maintains Corporate Directives and applicable accreditation standards at all RS facilities. Provides external consultative services to RS facility pharmacies, administrators and medical staff as requested. Serves as a liaison between pharmacy and executive medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
Provides oversight to all RS pharmacy operations.
Provides oversight of pharmacy budget, purchasing, and inventory control at RS Pharmacies.
Meets with RS executive leadership team to discuss medication cost and usage issues as well as analyzing trends and make recommendations for improvement.
Assists Facility Medical Executive Directors, Medical Directors, and RS’ Chief Clinical Officer in developing rational medication guidelines for the appropriate use of medication(s).
Recommends operational and/or managerial changes to RS Administration regarding facility pharmacy operations.
Monitors compliance with State and Federal Pharmacy laws, legislative rules and codes governing permitted pharmacies in states where RS operates licensed pharmacies.
Ensures compliance with applicable accreditation standards at each facility. Provides on-site consultative and administrative support during accreditation site visits, as requested. Performs, at a minimum, annual site visits to all RS facility pharmacy operation reviewing medication storage areas as well as the facility pharmacy department.
Monitors facility medication use; performs drug regimen reviews and pharmacotherapeutic consultation on difficult cases as necessary.
Monitors RS’ Pharmacy Continuous Quality Improvement programs, addresses problematic areas and recommends plans of corrections as well as participating in management of facilities’ formulary recommending additions, deletions, and cost savings measures.
Facilitates RS’ corporate Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings at regular intervals.
Assures that applicable facilities and programs have regularly scheduled Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings as required by contract. Supports other company and departmental needs as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Required: Bachelors or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Experience
Required: Five years of experience in pharmacy management role.
Required: Five years of professional pharmacy experience in an inpatient environment.
Preferred: Experience negotiating pharmacy purchasing agreements with group purchasing organizations (GPOs), primary wholesalers and secondary wholesalers.
Preferred: In depth knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards and other accreditation standards as necessary along with prior survey experience.
Licenses/Certifications
- Required: Active license as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) and Consultant Pharmacist (if required by state), according to applicable responsibilities.
