Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing has primary responsibility for providing operational oversight for all medical device sourcing and analytic activities related to the Tenet USPI contract portfolio and ensuring strategic sourcing resources are prepared, aligned and appropriately focused to achieve corporate and departmental goals. The Senior Director will assist the VP Clinical Resource & AVP Account Management in effectively turning supply chain strategic goals into tactical objectives, and will actively create and maintain strategic alliances with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to innovate and cultivate contracting opportunities for the IDN facilities. In addition, this individual will actively collaborate with the Medical Device Management team to develop synergies between contracting and SurgIntel analytic activities, create alignment, and customization of physician preference items to meet local needs. The Senior Director will provide exceptional customer service to all customers by establishing appropriate expectations and ensuring the Strategic Sourcing team produces quality deliverables in a timely fashion.

What you will do in this role:

  • Serves as the primary sourcing lead for supply chain and assists other functional areas related to developing and delivering outcomes that align favorably with the objectives assigned to the strategic sourcing functions of Supply Chain.

  • Meet or exceed contracting goals established in annual Supply Chain work plan

  • Establishes relevant, quantifiable key performance indicators for the Strategic Sourcing team and monitor as required, modifying, corrections, refinements to team objectives, strategies and/or processes such that these metrics are attained and maintained within defined acceptable ranges.

  • Leads and oversees efforts to define and develop the people, processes, competencies, technology and other resource requirements necessary to effectively support on an ongoing basis the team’s core functional areas of contract strategy development, negotiations, execution, and management.

  • Assists the AVP and VP in effectively managing team budget expenses according to assigned annual HealthTrust budgetary objectives.

  • Collaborates on a regular basis with the senior supply chain team, market supply chain leaders and the local MMIS team of the IDN:

  • Co-develop integrated sourcing objectives for the IDN and ensure effective communications that mutually support the teams’ objectives;

  • Collaborate with clinicians and supply chain leaders to Identify and assess new products that may represent opportunities for contracting and clinical integration initiatives;

  • Develop a plan of action on current local and custom agreements to find pricing parity and work with item master team on contract maintenance in existing MMIS systems.

  • Collaborate with HealthTrust Account Director on HealthTrust contracts and the S2 process

  • Aligns HealthTrust contracting and locally-negotiated agreements for standardization of contract process across the IDN

  • Actively participate in cross-communication between the teams regarding industry updates and other pertinent developments;

  • Assist in the mutual attainment of goals and objectives;

  • Resolve market contract service issues; and

  • Improve general overall processes for supply chain contract services.

  • May assist with other contract needs in specialty areas of pharmacy and purchased services as needed. Contract projects may cross to these areas and Sr. Director, Strategic Sourcing will assist as needed.

  • Forms and maintain strategic alliances with key stakeholders both internally and externally to innovate and cultivate contracting opportunities and service offerings for the IDN markets.

  • Actively champions and leads the Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing team in change management as needed to drive adoption of those activities that support the organization’s growth, maturation and innovation of its service offerings.

  • Monitors and takes the necessary actions needed to alleviate, mitigate risks and mediate/resolve facility and vendor issues that may arise within the IDN

  • Maintain Master Contract log and contract repository (Meditract) and ensure accurate, complete, and timely entry. Use a standard nomenclature to ensure accurate searching and reporting needs are met. Coordinates contract updates with the contract management team

  • Develops and coaches the Supply Cain Strategic Sourcing team; conducts performance reviews on a regular basis and as needed; ensures the team’s knowledge and competencies grow to match the evolving needs of the organization and sophistication of the changing market needs and new product introductions

  • Provides subject matter input to presentation materials developed to support sales and marketing efforts and actively participate in HealthTrust contract process as a presenter when requested to do so

What qualifications you will need:

  • Accredited College Bachelor’s Degree required. A master’s degree in a business or healthcare discipline is also preferred

  • 7+ years relevant work experience required. Ideal candidate will have experience in strategic sourcing and negotiating a variety of contracts in the assigned areas

  • Candidate must have proven track record of achieving results and managing equivalent or similar responsibilities (Strategic sourcing, Contract Negotiation, Contract Management, Supply chain operations, and Analytics)
