Network Operations Monitoring and Automation Engineer
Location: Remote (Alaska Time Zone)

Overview: TEKsystems is seeking a highly skilled Network Operations Monitoring and Automation Engineer for our client based in Alaska. This role is pivotal in leading the enhancement of monitoring and automation within the Network Operations Center (NOC). The successful candidate will leverage Assure1 functionality and collaborate with vendors, engineering, and application technology teams to drive significant reductions in Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) through improved automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Improvement Initiatives (20%)
· Assessment of Current Processes: Conduct thorough evaluations of existing monitoring and automation processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for enhancement.
· Implementation of Best Practices: Integrate industry best practices in monitoring and automation, staying updated on trends and advancements.
· Change Management: Develop and manage change management processes to smoothly implement new initiatives with minimal disruption.
Business Requirements Development (20%)
· Cross-functional collaboration: Engage with stakeholders from various departments to gather insights and understand operational challenges.
· Documentation: Create detailed business requirements documentation for automation tools and processes.
· Vendor Liaison: Communicate requirements to vendors and ensure their solutions align with NOC operational goals.
MTTD & MTTR Reduction (20%)
· Root Cause Analysis: Analyze historical incident data to identify patterns and root causes of outages or delays.
· Strategic Initiatives: Develop initiatives focused on improving detection capabilities and streamlining response processes.
· Continuous Improvement: Regularly review MTTD and MTTR metrics and adjust strategies based on performance outcomes.
Leverage Assure1 Functionality (15%)
· Tool Utilization: Utilize the full capabilities of Assure1 to improve operational visibility.
· Customization and Configuration: Customize Assure1 settings to meet specific NOC requirements.
· Automation Opportunities: Identify and automate repetitive tasks to streamline workflows.
Collaboration & Communication (10%)
· Integration Coordination: Facilitate collaboration between NOC, engineering, and application technology teams.
· Stakeholder Updates: Regularly communicate updates on monitoring and automation initiatives.
· Cross-Functional Meetings: Lead meetings to discuss project statuses and opportunities for improvement.
Proactive Monitoring Solutions (5%)
· Risk Assessment: Identify critical systems requiring proactive monitoring solutions.
· Monitoring Design: Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions for real-time system performance visibility.
· Feedback Loop: Establish a feedback loop with NOC and TAC teams to refine monitoring strategies.
Training & Knowledge Sharing (5%)
· Training Programs: Develop training programs for NOC staff on new tools and automation processes.
· Documentation and Resources: Create comprehensive documentation and guides for the NOC team.
Performance Metrics & Reporting (5%)
· KPI Development: Establish relevant KPIs for monitoring and automation efforts.
· Regular Reporting: Generate and present reports to leadership, highlighting key performance metrics.
· Data-Driven Decision-Making: Use data from monitoring tools to drive informed decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field.
· A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in NOC or similar roles focused on monitoring and automation.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Telecommunications experience.
· Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CCNA, CCNP).
Skills:
· Proficiency in ticketing systems, process improvement, Assure1, NOC operations, network monitoring, IP networks, service desk operations, customer service, network troubleshooting, and escalation calls.
Additional Information:
· This position is 100% remote, working typical business hours Monday through Friday in the Alaskan time zone.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00
