Overview

Purchasing Agent Responsibilities:

The Purchasing Agent – Px2 is responsible for ordering materials for projects, managing requisitions, coordinating purchasing needs with project teams, supporting accounts payable, and preparing product submittals.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for verifying that purchase orders comply with project requirements as well as Bernhard Standard Practices.

  • Understanding system concepts, engineered specifications, construction methods, and developing a timely and accurate work product.

  • Reviewing project documents, identifying systems, and becoming familiar with materials and joining methods.

  • Expected to learn mechanical and plumbing system types and components within the systems.

  • Being the primary contact between project teams and material vendors.

  • Responsible for the oversight and management of all purchased materials and system components.

  • Processing requisitions, sourcing product, obtaining pricing, assembling product information, managing deliveries with vendors, creating purchase orders, approving invoices, managing backorders, and resolving invoice and purchase order discrepancies.

  • Managing documents (project specifications, material requisitions, pricing sheets, purchase orders, invoices, etc.).

  • Generating pipe, valve, and fitting (PVF) standards for individual projects by researching and interpreting project specifications and design requirements.

  • Utilizing applicable PVF standards to create, assemble, and update material and product submittals.

  • Working with the Estimating department to update and maintain corporate material pricing database.

  • On select projects, procuring pricing on specialty items as well as confirming accurate material multipliers are being utilized prior to project bid.

  • Providing direct mentoring to other employees, either within or outside of the department.

  • Giving presentations to groups of 3 or more.

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Director of Purchasing.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 2+ years of experience.

  • Self-motivated and able to work in a high-output and quick-turnaround environment.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements:

  • 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements:

  • Climb stairs in an office building.

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

  • Noisy environment.

  • Quiet environment.

Pay Range

USD $43,500.00 - USD $58,100.00 /Hr.
