Vanderbilt University Mid-South Hub Assistant (Part-Time) in Nashville, Tennessee

The Mid-South Hub Assistant (Part-Time) works in the Wond’ry, Vanderbilt University’s Innovation Center. The ideal candidate embodies a demonstrated commitment to, and interest in entrepreneurship, innovation, and commercialization. The Mid-South Hub Assistant is an individual contributor who will support the day-to-day activities of the Hub Coordinator and will execute tasks such as coordinating microgrant processing, supporting cohort recruitment, organizing training logistics, facilitation activities, and workshops, and coordinating Hub reporting information. The chosen candidate will report to the Hub Director and work closely with all Senior Personnel and the Hub Leadership Team.

This is a part-time, on-site position, working up to 27 hours per week. The position is available for the term life of the grant, which expires in December 2027, with option of renewal.

The Wond’ry is the university’s center for innovation and design. We are an outwardly facing, customer service-oriented unit that serves the entire Vanderbilt community of faculty, staff, and students from all colleges and schools, while also working to build up the innovation ecosystem in Nashville and beyond. We provide a variety of programming, resources, and funding opportunities to help our constituents express and test their ideas, to develop design and systems thinking skills and an innovation mindset, as well as facilitate interdisciplinary and immersive learning experiences. Because we assist with the development of innovations and collaborations across all disciplines, we look for dynamic, curious individuals with a variety of background experiences they can leverage to help people along their innovation journey.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as first point-of-contact for microgrant processing activities on behalf of Hub Partners or Hub Alliance Partners through Vanderbilt’s SkyVU platform, an Oracle Cloud product.

  • Support coordination and serve as Teaching Assistant for certified Regional I-Corps Programs including Sullivan Family Ideator, Bootcamp, and Immersive Cohorts.

  • Support Regional I-Corps Program cohort recruitment and strategic program outreach for different variations of programming with an emphasis on maintaining diverse cohorts.

  • Support the coordination of monthly National I-Corps Info Webinars and invitational outreach to eligible teams across the Hub, including Hub-wide NSF Career Awardees, GRFP awardees, recent regional program participants, and other lists as needed.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned and as interest and time permits.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education is strongly preferred.

  • Experience as an entrepreneur and/or in entrepreneurship programs or centers is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Vanderbilt’s Procurement system and processes is preferred.
