Performs emergency communications coordination. Provides information and emergency notification to customers. Works with advanced communications systems. Practices continuous professional development and excellent customer service. Practices proactive operational support of the department.

Department Summary;

LifeFlight's Communications Center is made up of a team of licensed EMTs and Paramedics that serve as a Regional Medical Communications Center (RMCC) for Middle Tennessee, as well as communications for the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Neonatal and Pediatric ground ambulances, Vanderbilt LifeFlight's ground EMS and Event Medicine ambulances

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs and documents safe, efficient and accurate coordination for all designated Emergency Services assets.

• Understands the operations and applications of all communication equipment.

• Communicates information and emergency notification to customers in an efficient, concise and courteous manner.

• Demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of Emergency Response procedures.

• Maintains competency per regulatory and accreditation compliance.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

• Listening (Novice): Demonstrates the fundamental techniques of listening, including paying complete attention, avoiding interrupting speakers, seeking clarification when necessary, and acknowledging that the message has been received, if appropriate. Is sensitive to speakers and understands the need to interpret nonverbal signs, such as body language, and inflection. Makes an effort to fully clarify information. Avoids emotional responses and reactions.

• Decision Making (Fundamental Awareness): Demonstrates the ability to make basic decisions impacting areas of direct responsibility. Anticipates the consequences of actions, makes plans to deal with them effectively, and implements those plans. Analyzes situations systematically to determine causes and consequences.

• Change Management (Fundamental Awareness): Establishes a structured methodology for responding to changes in the environment or establishing coping mechanisms for responding to changes in the workplace. Makes sound recommendations in problem resolutions. Assists in testing and quality assuring solutions.

• Emergency Management (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with emergency management.
