Position Description
The Human Resources Analyst performs moderately complex professional, technical, and analytical HR duties in support of The Metro Parks and Recreation department HR program. The incumbent will oversee one or more of the following areas: selection, employee relations, personnel transactions and training. Performs related duties as required. This position will also have administrative duties such as planning, scheduling, correspondence with various levels of employees and business partners.
Metro Parks offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County including after-school programs for children, cultural arts classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, fitness classes, art galleries, programs and services for seniors, as well as for those with disabilities. Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 178 parks and 100 miles of greenway. Metro Parks’ mission is to sustainably and equitably provide everyone in Nashville with an inviting network of parks and greenways that offer health, wellness, and quality of life through recreation, conservation, and community.
Typical Duties
Conducts new hire processing for a variety of positions;
Helps draft job announcements, and correspondence.
Reviews and evaluates employment applications as received.
Generates and maintains recruitment lists and registers.
Performs personnel transactions such as hire, termination, demotion, transfer, promotion, etc. for one or more divisions of Metro Parks.
Interprets and explains Civil Service rules, policies and procedures;
Confers with departmental staff and counsels employees and managers on HR practices.
Helps conduct investigations and may assists with reports on EEO, Title VII, sexual harassment, employee grievances, or other employee complaints.
Helps ensure compliance with employee performance management and disciplinary action processes.
Analyzes job classes and positions using information obtained in written and/or verbal form.
Assists in the writing and revision of functional job descriptions.
Gathers and analyzes data and makes recommendations for new or existing classifications.
May assist with training programs; may help compile training activity records where needed.
Stays abreast of legislative, procedural, or other Metro Civil Service Policy and Rule changes related to HR.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Additional experience directly related to job duties and functions may be considered in lieu of education
LICENSE REQUIRED
Valid Driver License.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience working in or directly supporting a Generalist Human Resources or Benefits role
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
Experience working with Human Resources Information System (HRIS) software including timekeeping.
