Robert Half Database Administrator in Nashville, Tennessee

Description

Overview

As a Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and performance of our organization's databases. You will be responsible for installing, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing production databases, while also implementing and overseeing policies and procedures to safeguard data integrity and availability.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for production databases and data warehousing in alignment with business objectives.

  • Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, and standards to support procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain database systems, including Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Monitor database performance, identify issues, and implement optimization strategies.

  • Manage data storage, migrations, and security.

  • Develop and maintain change control and testing processes.

  • Provide support and guidance to end-users on database best practices.

Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.

  • Possess hands-on experience with database tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

  • Be proficient in PowerShell scripting, SSRS, EDI, SSIS, Server & DB Monitoring, SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Octopus Release Management Tool, Redgate SQL Source Control, Cleo, and T-SQL.

    Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Database Administrator.

  • Certifications such as MCSA SQL are preferred.

  • Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Skills (Preferred)

  • Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS).

  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
