Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Services Group (CSG) is responsible for the development and implementation of HCA’s Clinical Data and Analytics (CDA) data quality program as well as the expansion of business processes and performance related to HCA's Clinical Data Management Office’s (CDMO) Data and Data Quality (DQ) strategies.
This position is a corporate-level management position that provides technical and operational support in the management and execution of clinical data systems that have impact in clinical areas. The position requires an in-depth understanding and appreciation for Clinical Information; its capabilities, limitations, and impact on data and/or data normalization/standardization.
In addition to a deep understanding of technology, this position also requires a detailed understanding of healthcare-based information technology, data quality management, health information management, privacy and security, and a strong understanding of data product management, governance, and data user literacy. This position will be responsible for managing data quality analysis, ongoing quality assessments and scorecards, ad hoc data metric reporting, data domain owner/user engagement, and appropriate clinical data usage throughout the organization. This individual will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of analysts in the CSG CDMO.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure a standardized and consistent approach relating to managing clinical data; participation and implementation of Data Quality Management, Data Asset Management, Business Intelligence (BI), and Analytics across the CDA program teams.
· Manage, mentor, grow, and support team of direct reports on the CDMO functional area or team. Works within the leadership of CDMO to set personal goals and project goals and to review and evaluate their actual performance, including all aspects of human resource management within assigned team
· Manage the day-to day activities for the development of the appropriate strategies, plans, tools and approaches to ensure successful implementation of DQ product coordination, governance, innovation projects, reports, dashboards and/or scorecards.
· Coach and mentor staff to think analytically and critically to lead data quality, normalization, standardization, and/or automation efforts; Facilitate effective communications among all team members to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations and requirements.
· Lead the development of data quality assessments readiness for various activities, coordinate and/or oversee data issue management; oversee issue gathering/definition activities or fact finding and resolution processes for the DQ team.
· Leads, designs, and otherwise develops data solutions individually or through assigned team resources as needed to meet organizational data business problems.
· Ensures communication between the project teams, analysts, developers and all of the affected departments during data product build/implementation, and ongoing operationalization.
· Develop and deliver staff training and education for trainers (train-the-trainer) and collaborate with vendors and internal resources to manage the delivery of data training programs/courses.
· Collaborate with ITG in the definition and development of new or additional functionality to meet CSG needs; participate in the definition of project success criteria and define metrics to be collected, analyzed and reported.
· Establish and maintain effective relationships with CSG, Information Technology Group (ITG), and other pertinent stakeholder professionals across the enterprise.
· Proactively identify and resolve program-level issues; Work on an as needed basis with CSG business units that have hardships and opportunities for improvement with their data.
· Engage data users to obtain feedback on usage activities to continuously improve DQ output.
· Use and support database applications and analytical tools, evaluate data quality, applications, and workflow functions.
· Escalate to, and collaborate with, CDMO Director on issues and risks to identify solutions.
Education and Experience
· College degree required.
· Clinical Informatics or other information management degree, with supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
· Graduate degree preferred.
· At least 7 years of related work experience.
· Related work experience must include 4 years of data/informatics experience with additional organizational or project leadership experience.
· Specific expertise and experience in the areas of data quality management and analytics required.
· Preferred prior HCA experience.
· ·Self-starter/self-motivated and driven to exceed established goals.
· Demonstrated extensive experience in both small- and large-scale development projects.
· Demonstrated knowledge to understand data quality dimensions and industry norms in order to develop and design impactful reports,
· Demonstrated database design and development experience with solid understanding of relational and multi-dimensional designs.Extensive experience with relational database management systems; SQL server experience required.
· Working knowledge and experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools including BigQuery and Looker preferred.
