Job Summary and Qualifications

The Data Engineer will lead and consult on development efforts within the Accelerated Technologies- Innovation (AT-I) team for the Patient 360 data product, its associated features, and other custom data pipelines that support HCA’s clinical and revenue cycle objectives. The engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, enduring data consistency, scalability, and interoperability. This resource will also coordinate work with multiple vendor development resources to provide mapped data for multiple development efforts, as required for each application. The engineer should have excellent technical skills, including proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and big data technologies. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are essential. Proficiency in clinical data, HL7, and FHIR frameworks are preferred.

Technical:

Design, develop, and test data pipelines and ETL processes

·

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business and technical requirements

·

Design and implement data models, schemas, and database structures, and optimize database performance, indexing, and query execution

·

Extract data from various sources (databases, APIs, files) and transform it into usable formats

·

Identify, develop and optimize process improvements to support Agile development and CI/CD

·

Work with big data frameworks such as BigQuery, and implement distributed computing and parallel processing for large-scale data

·

Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency, and implement data governance practices and policies.

·

Monitor data pipelines, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot issues

·

Implement logging, alerting, and error handling mechanisms.

Communications/Documentation:

·

Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, and communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences

·

Create and maintain technical specifications, technical documentation, application architecture documentation and support documentation

·

Utilize version control tools, such as, GitHub, and ensure change management processes are followed by all development resources

·

Responsible for communicating via multiple media, including but not limited to conference calls, in person participation and via written documentation across audiences with varying levels of technical expertise

Performs other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

Associate's degree

7+ years of experience in front end (UI) and back end development
