Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs daily assignments in the Transfer Center, Centralized Discharge Transport and Behavioral Health call queues. Assists in the management activities and provides leadership which facilitates the processes associated with direct admissions, hospital transfers, patient transport and patient placement in an appropriate hospital. Coordinate ambulance transfers from the HCA Healthcare hospitals to other facilities and post-acute care providers. Exercises management responsibilities as delegated by the PLC Assistant Manager, Manager, Director AVP, VP or RVP

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees daily operations consistent with the departmental goals

  • Monitors orientation of new staff through collaboration with preceptor

  • Completes initial review of service inquiries and recoveries and communicates results with PLC leadership

  • Serves as the primary point of contact (while on duty) in the absence of PLC leadership

  • Assists management with scheduling and covering open shifts

  • Responsible for QA/QI of data, phone calls, and reports

  • Assists with staff communication, provides updates and maintains standards

  • Strives to improve current operations by identifying inefficiencies

  • Meets with leadership regularly to effectively communicate and resolve issues

  • Works as a liaison between staff and leadership

  • Maintains the PLC documentation system by updating locations and providers as required

  • Exercises good judgment in the absence of detailed instructions or in an emergency situation

  • Sets a good example for staff by adhering to all office policies and maintains a positive attitude

  • Brings problems or issues to leadership’s attention in a timely manner

  • Plays a vital role in emergency operations

  • Assists in data collection, monitoring, evaluation and analysis of data

  • Monitors the call queue for the Float Pool and Assessment Specialists

  • Proficient in navigating and documenting in multiple technology platforms and other call and office-oriented systems as needed.

  • Exhibit and model exceptional customer relationship behaviors, including telephone and personal contact with all of the call center's customer groups (i.e. transport companies, callers, and fellow employees).

  • Maintain professionalism and customer-centric communication with challenging callers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in job responsibilities of transfer, transport coordinator, centralized patient placement coordinator and behavioral health coordinator

  • Strong working knowledge of all EMTALA regulations

  • Prior customer service experience

  • Knowledge of patient transfer related state and federal regulations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with employees, clients, and others

  • Ability to set and follow priorities

  • Character to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Ability to self-manage by taking responsibility to initiate, assess, and take action as well as the ability to function calmly in stressful situations

  • Knowledge of basic hospital services

  • Ability to multi-task with multiple computer systems

  • Positive, enthusiastic, helpful personality

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Prior management/ supervisory experience in a healthcare related field preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience required

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

  • Current licensure as a mental health professional including Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

  • Clinical license is required in the state in which the candidate resides.
