A Day in the Life

You will join a team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of Medical Surgical Product Line

SURGICAL INNOVATIONS set the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead cross functional teams including Design teams, Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Sourcing, Labeling, Contract Manufacturers, and Quality through the product development process to ensure successful completion of projects and business goals.

  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and resource tracking for assigned projects. Ensure timely and effective communication to update stakeholders (including multiple teams, sites and disciplines) on the progress of the project.

  • Schedule project meetings, document meeting minutes and key decisions, and track action items

  • Ensure alignment between design sub system teams, operations, and core team. Ensure input is incorporated early in process development and quality planning. 

  • Lead in the preparation and alignment of the official design transfer to operations when metrics support operational readiness!

  • Build strong informal and formal communication channels to deliver information that is accurate and up to date to all stakeholders 

  • Organize and guide large numbers of distributed, cross-functional resources successfully. 

  • Function as the primary point-of-contact for key leaders and stakeholders across the organization 

  • Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.

  • Contribute to project prioritization decisions by providing data and analysis from current and past projects. 

  • Travel up to 25%

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with Software Experience

  • 14+ years of overall IT experience with 6 years of project management relevant experience

  • Experience in managing people/direct reports: Accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.

  • Exceptional influencing and interpersonal skills, negotiating; managing change; goal setting; planning and organizing teamwork; ability to address difficult situations; conflict resolution; resource constraint and problem solving.

  • SAFe/ RTE or handling ART Experience

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification

  • Autonomy: Manages one or more small-scale, developed or mature programs with well-defined program plans and delivery methodologies.

  • Is accountable for overall program process, performance, and customer satisfaction.

  • Organizational Impact: Provides input to establishing program objectives, timelines, milestones, and budgets.

  • Recommends new policies and procedures that affect program management.

  • May have budget accountability for one or more programs or at portfolio level.

  • Modifies programs management processes to improve program.

  • Communication and Influence: Communicates and leads meetings with internal and external customers and vendors, conducts briefings to higher level management team.

  • Solves issues through information exchange, influence, and active persuasion without direct exercise of command to gain cooperation of other parties on program execution plans.

  • Leadership and Talent Management: Leads, directs, and reviews the work of a team of professionals and/or vendors who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.

  • Master’s degree in engineering and/or scientific discipline, or MBA

  • PMP Certification

  • Scrum Master Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Project and ProChain scheduling methodologies

  • Experience leading diverse and complex projects and programs and coordinating multiple teams to execute concurrent, interdependent projects.

  • Well-versed in R&D, product development, and clinical/regulatory process (e.g., IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and able to influence all customers (both internal and external) on issues that impact the business and its technical service and product strategies. Active listenng skills with a keen awareness for various messaging styles; and polished ability to tailor delivery to a broad range of audiences.

  • Independent thinker with the ability to take both a commercial and operational view of complex situations
