The principal function of an employee in this role is to act as a lead worker while working alongside the permit technician team, oversee and participate in the various work of the permit technician team in all aspects of the permitting operation to ensure compliance with all the established policies and procedures, Federal and State rules and regulations. The Permit Technician Lead will perform a variety of specialized tasks, identify and resolve problems with procedure and make recommendations to the Building Services Supervisor.

Education, Experience Level, Certification Requirements:\ High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).\ Permit Technician Certification.\ 5 years of experience as a Permit Technician or any combination of experience which provides the equivalent scope.\ 3 years of experience in a supervisory role or any combination of experience which provides the equivalent scope.\ \ Preferred Certifications:\ Any additional ICC plan review or inspections certifications\ \ Skills & Abilities:\ Ability to mentor and cross train colleagues.\ Ability to demonstrate effective collaboration, teamwork, and conflict resolution.\ Must be able to operate under standard office practices and procedures, including the operation of standard office equipment.\ Ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnical, and cultural backgrounds in person or over the telephone.\ Ability to work both independently and on a team to complete assigned special projects and tasks in addition to fundamental responsibilities and duties of the position.\ Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer using standard and customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks.\ Ability and willingness to learn and use new skills brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology.\ Ability to have integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.\ \ Character:\ Must have the highest degree of integrity, judgment, and independence.\ A passion for public service.\ A forward-looking perspective, constantly scanning the horizon to anticipate future problems, while formulating potential solutions.\ Punctual, including attendance standards and work deadlines.\ Respects the opinion of others and demonstrates a reasonable relationship with employees, supervisors, and others.\ Is open to direction and recommendations to improve performance.\ Working Conditions (more detailed essential physical job functions available upon request):\ The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.\ \ The City of Nampa is an equal employment opportunity employer.
