Job Description

The Provost serves as Minnesota West Community & Technical College’s Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officer. This position provides educational and administrative strategic, data-informed leadership to Academic and Student Affairs Deans and Directors to achieve a high standard of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, strategic enrollment management, workplace solutions, marketing, instructional and student support technologies, management and operation of student services and faculty and professional growth.

The Provost will provide the vision and overall guidance for policy formulation, educational planning, institutional effectiveness, the Higher Learning Commission and programmatic accreditation processes, budgeting and new program development in an integrated instructional and student service setting. The Provost will report to the College President and serve as the chief administrative representative on Academic Affairs and Standards Council and participate in various Minnesota State, community, state and national organizations. As a senior leader of the college, this position provides critical input to the president on key college issues and opportunities and serves as a key member of the president’s cabinet.

Responsibilities Include

  • Data informed strategic leadership of academic and student affairs, information technology, workplace solutions and financial aid.

  • Academic and Student Affairs planning, growth and institutional effectiveness

  • Student success, strategic enrollment management, and marketing

  • Ensuring financial stability within the division

  • Contribute to college-wide planning and decision making

  • Participate in System, state, and national initiatives

  • Supervise, evaluate and promote talent development and management

  • Equity and Inclusion focusing on policy development, strategic action, evaluation, and resource allocation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree;

  • 3+ years of administrative experience at the level of Dean or higher;

  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community and technical college;

  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and rigor;

  • Demonstrated commitment to enrollment management and student services that enhance persistence, progression, and completion rates;

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives;

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design;

  • Knowledge and experience in mentoring and professional development;

  • Established reputation for celebrating and appreciating successes;

  • Experience managing complex budgets;

Preferred Qualification

  • Doctorate degree;

  • 3+ years higher education teaching experience;

  • Demonstrated success developing and sustaining new academic programs;

  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing effective enrollment management strategies;

  • Knowledge and experience with policies and practices relating to excellence in teaching; curriculum development; instructional program planning and budgeting; program innovation, assessment, program development and review; articulation/transfer; faculty evaluation; staff development; distance and on-line education; course and faculty scheduling; technology to support instruction and overall college infrastructure; and customized training.

  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of fostering relationships with public school and workforce partners;

  • Experience working with employees in a collective bargaining environment;

  • Experience with customized training or revenue-generating workforce solutions.

  • Success in grant writing and administration.

  • Bilingual
