Company: CDI Engineering Solutions Position: Project Engineer Location: Muskegon, MI 12+ Month Contract Job Summary: Seeking experienced project oriented mechanical engineer with design (FEL), capital execution and budgeting experience. Specifically, this individual will provide project execution advice, program management and strategic support intended to reduce cost and timing while producing desired quality outputs for new projects. This role will also develop and lead site wide initiatives assigned to particular asset classes to improve process safety, reliability, and cost performance in support of a tolling business model Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Provide engineering leadership supporting plant operations during commissioning and start-up of new projects. Participate in plant optimization teams to identify opportunities for improvements in cost, capacity, environmental and safety issues Participate and contribute to safety programs to continually improve the Goal Zero safety culture of the company Demonstrates ability to deliver on complex situations or problems without guidance or supervision Demonstrates ability to lead and manage cross functional teams by identifying and solving complex engineering, planning, and operational problems, while enabling successful execution of projects through the entire project lifecycle (planning, implementation, completion). Successfully work with EPC firms and local engineering personnel as needed to execute projects Communicate project progress and status to key stakeholders (CEO, CFO, Executive Board) using Project Management Programs and other proven forms of communication Lead or participate in engineering studies to develop solutions for major or systemic problems. Assist in the development of less experienced plant engineers, operations specialists, maintenance crafts and operators in developing skills for operations and maintenance of equipment. Develop and advocate company engineering standards. Lead the development of discipline specific MOCs and participate in PHA & MOCs that require cross-functional review. Review and update operating procedures for equipment as needed. Recommend design improvements to increase the reliability of equipment categorized as a bad actor. Support the resolution of Operation Excellence audit non-conformance findings. Develop & evaluate specific addendum requests to site engineering standards. Job Qualifications & Skills Required: Demonstrated experience in capital execution of multiple $0.5MM-$3MM capital projects Demonstrated experience in capital & base maintenance projects into existing facilities. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple competing projects on time and within budget. Experience coordinating activities between internal and external engineering resources Experience in developing asset strategy for maximizing equipment availability & utilization Solutions oriented mindset with ability to work both independently and within small teams. Experience in leading & coordinating incident investigations, RCFA, & problem solving is a plus. Excellent communication skills required Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or higher education preferred Top 3 Requirements for Role: 1. Approx 3-7 years of experience preferred in Chemical and related industries preferably in batch specialty chemical industry 2. Proficient with Project Management Programs to effectively communicate project timelines to upper management. (Microsoft Project, Smartsheets, etc..) 3. Experience leading design, procurement, installation, and operating a variety of unit operatio
