Intermountain Healthcare MRI Technologist - Murray, UT in Murray, Utah

Job Description:

The MRI Tech is responsible for performing medical imaging examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of illness or injury.

Department Location: Intermountain Medical Center

Scheduled Weekly Hours: Full time- 40 Hours

Benefit Eligible: Yes

Pay: $31.94+ (Pay is dependent on previous relevant work experience)

Minimum Qualifications

  1. ARRT registered technologist.
  • and -
  1. Current Utah State Licensure (for positions in Utah) in order to administer RX.
  • and -
  1. Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

  1. One year of experience in MRI.
  • and -
  1. Post-hire expectation: Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.
  • and -
  1. Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within six months of hire.
  • and -
  1. Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.
  • and -
  1. (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.

  1. MR registered by ARRT.

Job Essentials

  1. Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.

  2. Performs MRI examinations per department protocol.

  3. Understands cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.

  4. Critiques own films.

  5. Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.

  6. In coordination with the radiologist, selects proper scanning techniques and protocols.

  7. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration. As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers intravenous contrast material to patients.

  8. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.

  9. Understands and operates all MRI equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.

  10. Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging.

  11. Incumbent views, transfers, archives, and manipulates images.

  12. Exhibits a working knowledge of the MRI scanner. Troubleshoots when needed and understands the shutdown and start up procedures.

  13. Exhibits a working knowledge of the magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and all relevant computer hardware and software.

  14. Understands the Quench procedure and when it should be performed.

  15. Adheres to and understands the MRI safety policy and the FOUR ZONE concept.

  16. Understands proper MR magnet safety in an event of an emergency.

  17. Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation including time stamps and image storage.

  18. Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining consents if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality, maintaining a current QC program for ACR and reporting any equipment failures or problems.
