Intermountain Health Medical Director, Internal Medicine - North Market, Canyons Region in Murray, Utah

Job Description:

The Medical Director-Internal Medicine-Region will assist in providing physician leadership for the Intermountain Medical Group internal medicine clinics. The Medical Director is responsible for assisting in the development and setting of standards in safety, quality, patient experience, access, and stewardship in the internal medicine clinics and is accountable for the successful implementation of those standards. The Medical Director is also responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and support of the Intermountain Medical Group's strategic direction. This position reports directly to the Senior Medical Director-Internal Medicine of the Intermountain Medical Group.

Physician leadership for Intermountain Medical Group's internal medicine physician and clinics.

Job Essentials

Demonstrates leadership and credibility that earns the trust and respect of the caregiver community.

Works with physician, nursing, and operations leaders to advance Intermountain Health’s and Intermountain Medical Group's capabilities in each Fundamental of Extraordinary Care: Safety, Quality, Patient Experience, Access, and Stewardship.

Supports the development and implementation of Quality Improvement initiatives.

Assists in the development and implementation of Medical Group and Intermountain initiatives that are primary care based.

Provides support for the Medical Group's participation in the Intermountain Accountable Care Organization.

Helps promote and implement successful technology strategies within the Medical Group, including active participation on committees, involvement in priority stratification and determination of resource allocation.

Assists in development of strategies for physician and advanced practice provider (APP) recruitment.

With other physician leaders, advances professional development, resiliency, engagement, and alignment of all caregivers.

As invited, actively and effectively participates in Medical Group and Intermountain Health committees and teams.

Supports development and maintenance of a clinical structure which delivers high quality health care as measured by adherence to the fundamentals of extraordinary care.

Exemplifies values of Intermountain Health in daily work.

Works collaboratively with groups and individuals that are a part of the Intermountain clinically integrated network.

Minimum Qualifications

MD or DO degree and current board certification in Internal Medicine.

Current Medical licensure.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Extensive medical practice experience and excellent leadership skills.

  • and -

Sound understanding of modern health care economics and knowledge of financial principles.

  • and -

Demonstrated commitment to the fundamentals of extraordinary care; safety, quality, patient experience, access, and stewardship.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful medical leadership experience.

  • and -

Physician governance experience, such as participation on a Medical Group Board of Directors.

  • and -

Multi-specialty group/clinic experience.

  • and -

Managed care knowledge and experience.

  • and -

Experience in the management of clinicians and administrative resources.

  • and -

Development and implementation of clinical and business quality improvement initiatives.

  • and -

Knowledge of sophisticated clinical and management information systems.

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.

Operate computers, telephones, office equipment, and manipulate paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

See and read computer monitors and documents.

  • and -

Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

Interact frequently with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manipulate, with hands and fingers, complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, etc.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$7.25 - $999.99
