The Senior Manager for EU Technical Engineering (m/f/d) in Beckman Coulter Diagnostics will partner with the functional and regional operations senior leaders, site operations leaders and associates. You will deliver proactive technical automation, instrumentation and consumable engineering solutions to support new product introductions and product enhancements for EU Manufacturing & Operations.

This position will report to the VP EU Manufacturing Operations for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and will be a member of the EU Operations Leadership Team. We are seeking an ambitious candidate eager to continue their growth.This position will be on site in Munich (Baierbrunn).

The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering strategies, leading project teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions. You are to be expected to proactively drive and implement critical projects, playing a pivotal role in both the development and execution of regional strategies.The successful candidate will adeptly navigate diverse cultural landscapes, effectively minimizing obstacles and facilitating strategic transformations within the group. Demonstrating strong leadership and potential, you should be prepared to advance into a site lead role within 2 to 3 years, showcasing their capability to manage broader responsibilities and lead the organization towards sustained success.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive engineering strategies across European operations, while managing strategic specific manufacturing / operations and investigation projects in line with the EU sites and in compliance with the relevant regulatory authorities ISO/GMP etc.

  • Develop and execute automation and new manufacturing process technology to reduce costs / improve productivity.

  • Direct the resolution of complex business projects with cross-functional project teams (coordinate, track and monitor) to meet delivery of agreed milestones. Conduct thorough investigations on project impediments and recommend innovative solutions (using best practice knowledge).

  • Develop extensive detailed local and regional project plans and sub-plans, using project management tools. Ensure that project targets are monitored and reported in line with project timelines, KPIs, and company expectations. Coach, develop and monitor project participants.

  • Key metrics will be:Capacity (machine availability in time for growth)Quality (Defects Per Unit and First Pass Yield)Cost Savings, Productivity, Automation ROI, OEE, and efficiency for current products and Success of New Product Designs transfer into manufacturing.

  • Co-ordinate with relevant groups across the Corporation to ensure that procedures/specifications, raw materials, resources, and facilities are in place prior to pilot manufacturing.

  • Review and improve the transfer process, ensuring that a lean and robust process is in place. Use of DBS tools and techniques to streamline processes (e.g. SDR, TPI, Kaizen planning event, tools and drive projects forward using Daily Management).

    The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters/Doctoral degree in engineering with 12+ years’ experience in the diagnostic/manufacturing/medical industry.

  • At least 4 years prior management experience leading teams, with a proven track record of global Engineering leadership, execution of automation and successful process optimization improvements in a global operations environment

  • Prior experience in product transfer from R&D to Manufacturing and experience of the Supply Chain Process.

  • Extensive knowledge of design change documentation and change management systems.

  • Fluent German. Travel up to 25%.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Kaizen leader – certified Kaizen leader in relevant lean tools desirable.

  • VPM (Visual Project Management), Daily Management (DM) and lean six sigma experience
