Boeing Germany is seeking a Materials and Processes Assembly and Portable Tools Engineer based in Munich, Germany .

In this role the candidate will be participate in research and development of advanced assembly systems and processes to improve safety, quality, performance, and/or reduce costs.

In addition, we provide production and sustainment support to enterprise-wide customers from multiple functions. This position involves collaborating with various suppliers and research partners in Europe, as well as alignment with the Boeing BR&T US Teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with different airplane programs to develop requirements and test concepts in a lab/industry environment.

  • Develop and implement processes and tools to enhance production efficiency for drilling and fastener installation systems.

  • Participate in Design and integration of Drilling and Fastening Tools (installation and removal) with BR&T and local research partners.

  • Develop comprehensive requirements for tooling & equipment for production systems to optimize assembly processes.

  • Perform Mechanical testing, Metrology and Ergonomic evaluations, shop trials representative of a production environment. Document and publish results to drive standards across enterprise.

  • Travel to vendor sites to support and witness/collaborate on testing activities (+ 20%).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in Assembly / Manufacturing engineering (Materials and Processes engineer).

  • 3+ years of relevant working experience.

  • Bachelor or higher degree or equivalent in a related field of study is required, i.e.:

  • Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering

  • Manufacturing Engineering

  • Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience with Assembly Processes and Fastener Systems.

  • Experience in Drilling, and Portable Tools (Drilling & Installation)

  • English language level – intermediate or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace background.

  • Experience with drilling, machining, riveting processes.

  • Experience with fastener systems (installations and removal) and bolted joints.

  • Experience with Test / Torque Benches.

  • Experience with mechatronics and control systems.

  • Experience with Mechanical testing, Metrology, and Industrial Ergonomics.

  • Familiarity with electrical or compressed air systems is preferred.

  • German language level – intermediate or higher.

  • French language level – intermediate or higher.

This position is in Munich, Germany and does not offer relocation assistance. Applicants must reside in area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
