SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Engineering Intern will focus on analyzing the current method of production by observing operations, conducting time studies, and evaluating workspace conditions. Data will be gathered and reviewed to reduce production cost and lead times as well as improve quality and safety standards.

Capital Projects:

  • Assist project engineers with reviewing engineering drawings, cost estimation, and project documentation for capital projects.

Manufacturing Process Optimization:

  • Conduct time studies and process evaluations to analyze equipment performance and identify inefficiencies.

  • Work with operations and engineering teams to develop and propose process optimization strategies that enhance safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Collaborate in the design and testing of fixtures or tooling solutions to improve equipment setup and operational efficiency.

  • Work with the programming group to address any programming needs identified during process optimization.

Product Quality Support:

  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including product testing, inspections, and documentation reviews to improve product consistency and reduce defects.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate engineering records, project documentation, and technical reports on findings, recommendations, and implemented optimizations.

  • Develop a final report and presentation outlining key learnings and contributions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure alignment on project goals and process improvements.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.

  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to apply engineering principles.

  • Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) is a plus.

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills for data analysis and reporting.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on guided tasks.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a hands-on engineering environment.

  • Previous internship or coursework in manufacturing, process optimization, or lean engineering is a plus.
