This position is remote and is based in Bangalore, India. A Solution Architect will leverage in-depth expertise in business applications, platforms, capabilities, and processes to design, implement and innovate solutions to optimize the Astellas technology architecture landscape. The role covers the Global MfgX hub (Product development, Manufacturing and Supply Chain domains) and is pivotal to the Astellas Digital Strategy.

This is a senior level role and includes developing a domain architecture vision, and contributing to the MfgX roadmap, leading collaboration with stakeholders, reviewing functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring consistent design standards, providing technology recommendations, creating solution prototypes, and managing epic story constraints like cost, quality, scope, and resources, assisting delivery leads in estimating costs, resources, and timelines, and remaining involved throughout the epics lifecycle. You will be at the forefront of implementing innovative solutions and will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Architecture Vision and Roadmap: Lead and own the MfgX domain architecture blueprint to ensure solutions are aligned with corporate architecture guidelines with a forward view of maturity aligned to business objectives

  • Integration Architecture: Design and oversee the integration of new applications with existing systems and software, ensuring seamless operation and data consistency across the enterprise.

  • Solution Design and Development: Design comprehensive application solutions that address business needs and challenges. This involves creating architectural designs that are scalable, secure, maintainable.

  • Technology Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and platforms for digital initiatives, considering factors such as performance, scalability, security, and integration capabilities.

  • Requirements alignment: Work closely with MfgX business Analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Ensure that the proposed solutions align with the organization's strategic goals and technology standards.

  • Initiatives & CI/CD Oversight: Provide technical leadership throughout the development life cycle, from initial concept through to implementation and support. Guide development teams to ensure adherence to architectural designs and best practices.

  • Performance Optimization: Ensure application solutions are optimized for performance and user experience. Conduct system performance analysis and recommend improvements.

  • Compliance and Security: Ensure application architectures comply with relevant regulations and standards. Incorporate security measures into the design to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Documentation: Create detailed documentation for application architectures (in ADOIT), including design specifications, integration patterns, and deployment guidelines.

  • Continuous Learning: Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in a specific area of expertise.

  • Innovation: Contribute innovative ideas and approaches to enhance project outcomes and digital capabilities.

  • Problem-Solving: Employ analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and deliver effective solutions.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality and consistency in the work delivered.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of demonstrated relevant experience in integrating and architecting solutions covering manufacturing systems and technologies, including MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), Industrial Automation, Data Historians (OSI-PI), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), manufacturing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and similar.

  • Architectural Knowledge: Deep understanding of agile architectural principles and design patterns, microservices, API design, packaged capabilities and development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps).

  • Demonstrable experience implementing Cloud agnostic data platforms and architectures (ideally Databricks) that foster transparency and observability of AI models and systems.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex business processes and associated datasets and create optimal technology solutions. Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges during the project lifecycle.

  • Stakeholder engagement: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and lead development teams. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying current with emerging technologies, programming languages, and industry best practices.

  • Certifications in specific technologies, architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), Agile delivery methodologies (e.g., SAFe) can be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of Software Validation processes and requirements. Experience in a GxP environment

  • Knowledge of OT security standards (e.g. NIST)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile Champion: Adherence to DevOps principles and a proven track record with CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong background in software development with expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, .NET, Python), databases/data lakes (Databricks), Integration platforms (Mulesoft, Fivetran HVR) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google).

  • Experience in Data Mesh strategy and data platforms implementation would be useful

  • Experience in Manufacturing and Lab Integration (OPC-UA, Kepware, QDocs)

  • Direct experience implementing/consulting on known Life Sciences technologies.
