The Enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) team is responsible for delivering customer solutions across multiple areas including how we enable users to authenticate, gain access to resources, how we protect / simplify the user experience, and how we enable applications, devices, systems and users to connect to resources at the right time for the right reasons. 

Microsoft is seeking an identity and security Site Reliability Engineer II focused on identity and Entra ID tenant administration, including tenant management at scale, empowering the business and protecting Microsoft. This role will draw deeply upon your experience with automation, configuration management, and security orchestration techniques embracing a site reliability engineering mindset.

Responsibilities

  • With your experience in Entra Identity and Identity & Access Management, you will help steer our own identity-centric digital transformation and support hundreds of thousands of employees as they seek to empower every person on the planet to accomplish more.

  • Demonstrates end-to-end expertise in distributed systems design, and interactions between cloud technology layers and components.

  • Design solutions addressing identified control issues in security policy and standards across the service and other stakeholders, while prioritizing development and implementation efforts.

  • Design, development, and implementation of automation of identity and access management related tasks. Resolves issues with new automation and makes improvements as needed.

  • Researches and maintains deep industry knowledge and identifies opportunities to utilize new tools and technologies.

  • Drives efforts within an organization to identify and recommend optimal configurations of cloud technology solutions and develops or modifies the code base.

  • Develops, tests, and implements changes to optimize code and improve platforms.

  • Responds to incidents during regular on-call rotations and shares details related to incidents and their resolution through post-mortem reports and regular review meetings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

. 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

o OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

. 3+ years direct experience managing Entra ID (AzureAD) (or similar cloud-based identity and access management services end to end)

Other Requirements:

. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

. 5+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

o OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.

. Troubleshooting skills are needed to be successful in this role.

. Kusto Query Language (KQL) expertise, or equivalent largescale service data management reporting

. Direct experience deploying EntraID solutions, at scale through automation

. Outstanding communications capabilities; can translate complex technical detail into clear and concise business outcomes.

Site Reliability Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
