Click HERE to view our Benefits page.HIRING CONTACT: Jonathan Warner, (409) 293-1310 PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: 10 Parks and Wildlife Drive, Port Arthur, TX 77640 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Big Game Alligator Program Leader, this position performs routine (journey-level) fish and wildlife conservation work and is responsible for providing assistance and information to landowners and managers, sportsmen and the general public concerning the American Alligator. Assists the Program Leader in various facets of operations. Duties include data entry, appropriate updates/revisions to printed documents and other materials, and organizing and disseminating information. Provides assistance with any of the following: alligator spotlight and/or nest surveys; nest observation and/or counting; small hand/power tools; and other tasks as assigned. Seasonal Tech may provide support to staff in installation of markers and signs, and maintenance of equipment, facilities and/or buildings. Performs work activities during the day and/or night-time hours on land and/or water, and under harsh field conditions in hot and humid climate with biting insects; potentially venomous snakes. Works under moderate supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from High School or GED. Experience: No experience required. Licensure: Must possess a valid state drivers license. NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon maintaining required license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university or working towards a Bachelors degree in Biological Science. Experience: Two years experience with data entry; personal computer software applications and administrative procedures. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of wildlife management techniques; Knowledge of native Texas wildlife; Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures; Skill in effective verbal and written communication; Skill in effective interaction with others; Skill with personal computers; Skill with MS Word, Excel and Outlook; Skill in data entry and maintaining hard copy and electronic files; Skill in providing quality customer service in a
