Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.

The Cosmos DB is hiring a Principal Product Manager to help us with strategy and execution for the top customers segment, high-end workloads and their needs. The role involves customer engagement, strategy, product definition and execution on the product capabilities identified as part of this strategy. Cosmos DB is a limitlessly scalable, fast distributed database that serves transactions for Walmart.com, Teams, Adobe, and many other popular consumer and enterprise applications you use on daily basis. These mega workloads involve unique requirements when it comes to AI usage, scale, performance, multi-tenancy, semantic queries, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipates customers needs and market opportunities product-wide

  • Leads contract negotiations and partnerships across the organization and company-wide alignment.

  • Influences the long-term vision and strategy for Cosmos DB based on a deep understanding of customer needs, business goals, and strategy.

  • Serves as an expert in identifying data-informed, long-term, solution-level investment opportunities, and more for multiple feature areas across divisional boundaries.

  • Drives top 20 customer success identifying opportunities working with the field, sales, marketing, and other customer success teams.

  • Defines the feature set and partners with Design teams to connect multiple design factors, reviews, and helps resolve challenges.

  • Drives the roadmap for the Cosmos DB and other products part of the solution across divisional boundaries

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND strong experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in customer success, engagement, technical pre-sales is preferred.
